What can Dyslexia (reading difficulty) look like?

  1. Slowness in decoding (working out) unfamiliar words
  2. Slow reading fluency
  3. Stilted out loud text reading
  4. Unwillingness or avoidance of reading
  5. Fear of reading aloud
  6. Difficulty comprehending the text
  7. Spelling difficulties, difficulty understanding and applying correct spelling rules and conventions to words

What can Dysgraphia (writing difficulty) look like?

  1. Difficulty forming letters
  2. Difficulty putting thoughts onto paper
  3. Incorrect letter spacing (writing letters and words without appropriate spaces in between)
  4. Writing incorrect grammatical sentences
  5. Incorrect pencil grip impacting on writing neatness and speed
  6. Difficulty writing along a line

What can Dyscalculia (maths difficulty) look like?

  1. Difficulty understanding number
  2. Difficulty understanding the relationship between numbers e.g. which number is smaller/larger
  3. Ineffective counting strategies
  4. Reduced or poor number identification fluency
  5. Difficulty completing simple sums of addition and subtraction
  6. Difficulty recognising symbols e.g. mixing up or not understanding the meaning behind +, -, X, ÷, =
  7. Slowness in mental calculations including basic facts e.g. 6+4=10
  8. Difficulty understanding, recalling and remembering times tables
  9. Difficulty reading and understanding time on a clock
